Senegal international Sadio Mane is keen to do something special with Liverpool this term. The Reds have made progress under the tutelage of Jurgen Klopp but they have not been successful in securing a trophy after losing in the finals of the League Cup, Europa League, and Champions League respectively over the past three years.
Speaking to Marca, Mane admitted that the club are keen on changing those fortunes and the Premier League remains their key target after strengthening the squad further during the summer, he said: “It is a great challenge, and it is true that we have won trophies, but not the Premier League. It's part of this game and we have to fix it this year.
“That is why we have signed great players and it is a great challenge to attempt to storm the Premier League. “Liverpool are a great club. We want to do something special, but without excessive pressure. “Now everyone is talking about us, but we have to be calm and take it game by game. Let's not talk about trophies now, it's early. This has just begun.”
Liverpool have managed to continue their good form from the previous campaign and they have registered the perfect tally of nine points after the first three games. Despite this, their title credentials may not be defined until they come head-to-head against the elite clubs and that should start right after the international break.
Following the game versus Leicester City, the Reds would enter the international break but thereafter they have a stiff challenge with Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Manchester City to face in the space of four league matches. In between that, they also have Champions League and League Cup matches to contend with and it will be interesting to see how Klopp deals with the squad selection during the congested fixture schedule.
