Barnsley recently managed a 2-1 win over Britain and Hove Albion that helped them move clear of the relegation zone. The team very much in that this victory, and the manager David Flitcroft praised the performance of his players.
Barnsley were coming into the match on the back of the 5-0 drubbing at the hands of the Premier league champions Manchester city. As a result, there was pressure on the manager to deliver results as the season comes to a close. Barnsley are extremely close to the relegation zone. Flitcroft has said that his team showed a similar kind of ruthlessness displayed by Manchester city.
The 39-year-old will be able to instil more confidence with his team as they prepare for the match against Watford next weekend. This will be another home match and the manager will be hoping to get another three points. Since being appointed as the successor to Keith Hill, David Flitcroft has managed to guide the club to 9 victories in the last 15 matches. Despite this good run of form, there are certain doubts regarding the ability of the club to sustain their current form in the remaining 10 matches of the season. The club will be playing against the top six teams on numerous occasions from now till the end of the season.
"I'm proud because we showed the kind of ruthlessness that we witnessed (from City) on Saturday. Every single player was incredible and the fight that I saw today was special, they're a special group. I can't tell you how delighted I am, it was a really brave performance. Without a shadow of a doubt we need to keep going but some teams will underestimate us. What has got us to this point is the fight and the scrap that I've talked about," said Flitcroft.
