Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher is unsure of the impact the exit of Sadio Mane will have on the Reds squad ahead of the new season. The ex-Liverpool central defender talked about Mane in a chat with British radio talkSPORT.
Liverpool have swiftly replaced Sadio Mane with Uruguayan star Darwin Nunez in their attack in a deal worth almost £85m including add-ons.Nunez caught the eye of Liverpool manager JurgenKlopp after he scored twice in two games against his team in the Champions League last season.On Nunez being an able replacement for Mane, Carragher said only time will tell if Nunez will be able to live up to the level of performance Mane gave Liverpool for many years. The Senegalese attacker was a key player for the Reds for the better part of the last five years before his exit.
Carragherfurther disclosed thatNunez is an unknown quantity on the Premier League scene at the moment as it's not certain if the Uruguayan striker would be a hit. According to him, it's difficult to determine if Liverpool are stronger with Nunez in the place of Mane considering that the Senegal international was one of the best players in European football in the second half of the season.
Mane signed for Liverpool from fellow Premier League team Southampton six year ago and he went on to score 120 goals plus 48 assists in 269 games for the club in all competitions. He won a lot of major trophies during his time at Liverpool.
