LIVERPOOL DUO ABSENT FROM TRAINING

25 Nov 2020

The Liverpool midfield duo of Thiago Alcantara and Fabinho were missing in training as the rest of their teammates trained at their new training ground on Tuesday. The Reds trained for the first time at the new AXA training centre in Kirkbyyesterday.

Some Liverpool players were missing in action because of international commitments. The likes of Sadio Mane (Senegal), Diogo Jota (Portugal), Roberto Firmino and Alisson Becker (Brazil) are with their respective countries. Reds stars like Joel Matip, James Milner, Nathaniel Philip, Adrian and DivockOrigi were all pictured at the training centre in Kirkby on Tuesday.

Fabinho and Thiago Alcantara have missed the past games due to various injury problems. Thiago and Fabinho missed out on the Spanish and Brazilian national team squads respectively because of those injuries.
Thiago Alcantara is a new signing for Liverpool after moving to the club from German champions Bayern Munich in the summer for a fee reported to be around £27m. The midfielder is still recuperating from the knee injury sustained during the Merseyside Derby in October.
Thiago was the victim of a crude tackle from Brazilian international Richarlisonin the final minutes of the derby and that led to the dismissal of the Everton who held on for a 2-2 draw with ten men. His Liverpool career has been disrupted by Covid-19 and that knee injury. Thiago had earlier tested positive for Coronavirus after his first game for the Reds in September.
Brazilian player Fabinho has been recovering from the hamstring problem picked up during the Champions League Matchday 2 win over Midtjylland. The Reds beat the Danish club 2-1 at home to maintain their unblemished record in the Champions League this season. Both Fabinho and Thiago are first team starters when manager Jurgen Klopp has the full complement of his players. Their participation in the upcoming Leicester City game om Sunday evening is still in serious doubt.
