Liverpool midfielder Fabinho believes the Reds must focus on a game-by-game basis rather than thinking about winning their maiden Premier League crown. The Merseyside giants have gone toe-to-toe with Manchester City for the top-flight title this term and they are currently behind the Citizens on goal difference at the top, though they have an extra game in hand.
Speaking to reporters, Fabinho acknowledged that the title pursuit remains a difficult task but he is confident that the Reds can prevail with the experience within the squad. He added that it is important to take game by game rather than concentrating on winning the title which may add the extra pressure on their shoulders.
He said: “I know it is really hard to win a league, especially the Premier League, but we have experienced players here a Liverpool. I don't know if I can help a lot because we already have experienced players. We know we are at the top of the table and it is important to be there at this point in the league but we cannot think just about the title, the title every time, because that can put extra pressure on us.”
“Liverpool have already experienced a couple of stutters against Leicester City and West Ham United“ this year which also facing their maiden league defeat at the hands of Manchester City. Despite this, they have continued to remain within contention of the Premier League title and the forthcoming game at “Manchester United could be essential“ to determining their credentials.
The Reds have the opportunity to catch up on the game in hand when they make the trip to Old Trafford but it remains to be seen whether they can secure maximum points which they have barely managed during recent trips to the stadium. Last season’s encounter saw them suffer a 2-1 defeat with Marcus Rashford netting a brace within the opening 25 minutes.
