RAPIDS BEAT GALAXY

Colorado Rapids recently managed a 2-0 win over LA Galaxy during the weekend, which helped them move to the third place in the table. They are just three points behind the leaders Real Salt Lake, but it was yet another disappointing performance for LA Galaxy.

After the match, manager Bruce Arena said that he could not have any complaints about the defeat because they were totally outplayed by Colorado in all areas of the pitch. He has said that they were physically better than LA Galaxy, and it proved to be the main difference.

Galaxy were coming into the match with an opportunity to keep ahead of Colorado in the table. Even though Colorado have played a game more than Galaxy, they were below their opponents in the table. As a result of this victory, though, they have overtaken Bruce Arena and his men by one point. Galaxy were unable to create any their chances in the match, as they were restricted to only longshots. They were able to resist the opposition from taking the lead until Hendry Thomas' goal in the 41st minute. Powers soon doubled the lead for Colorado after just 6 min.

It proved to be enough for the home team, as they held on for a great victory.

“They physically manhandled us. They won the battles most of the day. It was a really poor goal for us to give up at the end of the first half. It was a big play and, obviously, not a good way to start the second half by letting them create the second goal. Overall, we deserved to get beat," said Arena after the match. “I think giving up that late goal at the end of the first half kind of deflated us a little bit, and then we were chasing,” said defender Todd Dunivant.
