THIAGO OUT OF SPAIN SQUAD

Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara has been left out of the latest Spain squad ahead of the latest set of World Cup qualifiers for Qatar 2022 in the European section. The £20m Liverpool player was not part of the 24-man squad named by manager Luis Enrique ahead of the games against Sweden, Georgia and Kosovo in Group B.

Thiago earns around £200,000 on a weekly basis at Liverpool and he tasted just 65 minutes of action at Euro 2020 as Spain reached the semifinals. Apart from Thiago, the likes of Barcelona starlet Pedri, Real Sociedad star Mikel Oyarzabal, and RB Leipzig forward Dani Olmo were also left out. Olmo, Oyarzabal, and Pedri were all rested after their involvement at the Euro 2020 tournament and the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

JOURNALIST DELIVERS LIVERPOOL TRANSFER UPDATE

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has delivered transfer updates on Liverpool via his Here We Go podcast. According to him, Liverpool will have to sell some of their players to raise funds for new signings.

The respected media personnel revealed that the focus has been on renewing contracts this summer.

Liverpool have made just a solitary signing in the current transfer window and that was the £36m signing of Moussa Konate. The lanky central defender was signed from RB Leipzig in the German Bundesliga.

FULHAM AHEAD OF BENFICA FOR WILSON

Fulham are leading Portuguese club Benfica in the race to sign Liverpool winger Harry Wilson according to English publication Daily Mail. It was revealed that the English Championship side is closing in on the £10m transfer for the Welsh international.

The report said that the Reds are expected to receive around £10m from the potential transfer of Wilson who was left out of thepreseason game with German Bundesliga side Mainz 05. Welsh international Wilson was not in the Liverpool squad that beat Mainz 1-0 thanks to a late own goal.

Liverpool were said to have withdrawn Wilson from the squad to face Mainz so as not to jeopardise his transfer out of the club.

LAZIO IN BID FOR SHAQIRI

Lazio have submitted an offer for Liverpool playmaker XerdanShaqiri. This is according to Italian publication La Lazio SiamoNoi which stated that the Italian Serie A team has made a first bid for the Swiss international who has been linked with a move away from the Reds this summer.

Swiss star Shaqiri was on the fringes of the starting XI at Liverpool last season as he struggled for playing time especially in the Premier League. The former Bayern Munich, Stoke City and Inter Milan player started five times in the league last season as Liverpool qualified for Champions League football on the final day of the season.
