DONOVAN BACKS MOYES

USA soccer star Landon Donovan has said that Manchester United have made the correct decision in going for David Moyes as the replacement for Sir Alex Ferguson, who will be stepping down after 26 years in charge of the club.

Donovan has played under Moyes in two different spells at Everton. It is thought that Moyes was one of the key reasons in bringing Donovan to Goodison Park. The 30-year-old recently returned from his self-imposed sabbatical, which saw him lose his place in the national team. Moyes spent the last 11 years at Goodison Park creating a long-lasting dynasty.

Donovan reckons that he will be able to do the same at Manchester United as well. After Moyes was confirmed as the new Manchester United manager, speculation has been high that Donovan would be joining him at Old Trafford. However, the LA Galaxy star has ruled out the possibility of returning to Europe anytime in the near future. Continuous football was one of the main reasons for Donovan burning out in the last few years, which led to him taking a sabbatical from the game.

Donovan has said that he faces a huge fight before he can come back into the favour of US manager Jurgen Klinsmann.
“It was, in my opinion, the pretty obvious choice. I think anybody who has come across him probably in his playing career and definitely in his coaching career has a ton of respect for him and is very happy for him. I've never heard anybody say a bad thing about him. I have nothing but great memories of my time there, and I think he's going to do really well. Well ... I'm pretty sure that they prefer players that can make penalty kicks," said the striker, who is regarded as one of the best players ever produced by the USA.
